Default My first long apointment

Ok here the set up for the question...

I have never had a LONG sitting before. I have one small tattoo that took about an hour. I think of myself as shy especially around people that I have just met and dont know very well. So even for that 1 hour I found it strained to come up with small talk with the artist for that one hour.

I am now book for an all session at AON. I am super stoked and I cant wait to see the work but heres the thing. What am I going to do with myself for those hours upon hours? Am I expected to chat up the artist and keep him entertained? Is too much chatter an issue? Should I bring my ipod of hand held game system or would that annoy the artist?

I am asking here cause I know alot of you are artists and deal with this on a daily basis. What are your pet peeves when it comes to this and are there things you would suggest I do to pass the time and things you suggest that I do not do?

Thanks in advance for any input!

What do you consider a long session?

Wow. That is a very long session. I don't know what the artists prefer, but I would guess it has to do with the personality of the artist. I am pretty sure I will chat with my artist on Saturday. But I can talk to a wall.....

I read somewhere that Dave Tedder offers people to watch a movie. Is that true or an urban myths....

When I sat for Dave he had his screen saver on his Mac running in front of me. There must be 1K photos on it. Some art, tattoos, firearms, etc., It helped me sit just watching the photos pass. Every photo was something new.

yeah long sessions are alittle odd if you dont know the artist well.... But the less you talk to the artist the more focused he can be... my last session was for only about 5 hours and it was with Dave MF Tedder and the last 2 hours or so we turned on a movie on his lap top, which took my mind off of things and was quite entertained... i dont talk too much bc i dont want to disturb the artist... AFTER THE SESSION IS OVER, well you cant shut me up....

I have an apointment with Dave Tedder in May. I am from Boston and am travelign all they way down just for the tattoo so I want to get it all done in one shot if possible so when they booked me they said they were going to book me for an all day apointment.

I am asking a pheonix very detailed and colorful. As far as how big I leaving that up to dave. I am giving him my lower leg sockline to knee centered on the side. I will let him decide how much of the leg he wants to make it look awesome.

I personally do like to talk to my artist find out about him what go thim into tattooing, where hes from etc..... I never really thought they minded and it helps keep me calm but if you want just ask your artist if he minds you talking during the session if so just keep your mouth shut and let him do his thing.

I"ve had several long sessions with Dave working on my full Japanese backpiece. Sometimes we'll turn on a movie or something. I don't talk very much during. A little here and there, because I'd rather let him focus on the work. He is super easy going though. Great guy.
