i'm glad vick is getting a second chance...he served his time and he is doing good things in the community. he is making the most out a bad situation by giving an MVP performance when most didn't expect him to do that.

as far as obama giving the eagles owner a phone call...and taking vacations every other month...i think he is enjoying all the perks of being president...because he knows his time is almost up. he has a lot to focus on and if i were president i would never take a vacation. he needs to worry about the economy, national security, and the war in Afghanistan...not Michael Vick. but he is the prez...so he can call whoever he wants.

Exclamation Re: Obama and Vick?

I thought Vick was already getting a second chance. Didn't he just play his best game ever a couple weeks ago? Why is he calling them now? Did he do something else to get into trouble?

I hate politics, and don't want to turn this into a political thread, but I feel this needs to be said:

President Obama has accomplished more during his presidency since any president since Lyndon Johnson. He is doing a damn good job, and it is embarrassing that so many people have forgotten what the previous two terms were like so quickly.

Again, this wasn't to start a political debate, and I won't respond to anything posted that is not directly related to the original post.

You cannot honestly have made a comment like that and not expect, nor want this to turn into a political thread. OR, is it that you wanted people to just adhere to that view point and not say anything?

That said, you're right in one aspect. This President has done more to screw this country up since LBJ. Hell, since his socialist mentor, Roosevelt.

What's embarrassing is that people actually think that this President has done a good job. He has wrecked the economy, he has put spending through the roof, he's done more to destroy the creation of wealth, and potential for creation of wealth than any other President since Carter.

If one understands economics at all, it is not easy to understand why this President is so abhorrent to the well being of this country. Healthcare... What a piece of debris that is. On so many levels.

As for Vick...
Sadly, the NFL is somewhat of a free market, and there was demand for this twat to come back. It speaks to the individual character in regards to people thinking it is okay for a vermin like Vick has any place in public life, earning a VERY prosperous living. I will not begrudge him his abilities and his ability to learn, but I can say that he is scum, and the people that support him are of the same ilk. This sociopath tortured animals, to a very deep level; and we're supposed to forget that? Just because some wanna be fabian socialist in the White House gives a phone call.

How sad it is that our people have become so far removed from any trace of education, and standards.

LOL Sorry... I'm a bit passionate about these criminals in DC. ALL of them. Not just one party.

I apologize if I came off harsh. This past year really set me off. Here's the short story. Myself and four other guys started a company 2.5 years ago, as of three weeks ago; we're up to 56 employees. We offer outstanding benefits, and a very flexible work environment.

Over this past year, our costs are going to go up DRASTICALLY. And they are a DIRECT result of the "cost of government". Simply complying with government regulations, and various "compliance" standards (HIPPA, SOX, etc) will cost us over $1 million. Just to comply with government regulation.

Then there is the personal aspect of it. The cost of providing healthcare insurance, because of the "healthcare reform" BS, is going to sky rocket to the point that we will either, A: not hire anymore people, B: Cut benefits, and C: start firing people. We may have to do C regardless because of the costs associated with complying with the healthcare laws that are pending. It could get to the point where it would be cheaper for us as a company, to NOT offer benefits, and pay the federal fines for not offering benefits!

Pissed off doesn't cover it brother. Our company supports a lot of family's. And to be placed in a position to mess with good people's lives, because of bureaucrats just makes my stomach turn.

And in the end, it will hurt our business because we may not be able to have enough people on board, to handle the increasing demand for our services (data centers).

I spend a lot of time in and out of DC. The Federal side of our business is my focus, and the crap that I see is abhorrent. Politicians are simply clueless on how an economy functions, let alone basic business principles. Layering rules and regulations upon businesses, just to make it appear as though they're doing something is very expensive.

Oh... and the statement about tax breaks for small businesses... A lie. Straight up lie. A business has to jumps through so many regulatory hoops to get a very minor tax break, that it becomes unaffordable to chase the tax break.

One more... Sorry...
Increasing taxes on those with an income over $250k... Very stupid idea. Over 90% of the businesses in the US are small businesses. A very large majority of small business owners file personally, showing their business revenue as income. Meaning, a small business that makes over $250k a year, filed personally by the owner, becomes subject to increased taxation. Guess what that is going to cause? Small business owners to fire employee's, slow down their businesses (which will hurt the economy), or close up shop all together.

Okay... I'mma gonna shut up now. Before I really get going...

Again, sorry if I came off the wrong way guys. This topic just gets me so damn heated. We just had our company Christmas party, and so many spouses of our employees came up to us and thanked us for holding it together in this economy. The thought of pulling that rug out from under them keeps me awake at night.

trust me i totally understand...people need to hear more stories like yours. it puts things into perspective on how big govt f*cks everything up. obama care?? yes dont get me started on that either.

if you want free healthcare move to Canada...i lived in Canada for 18 years and guess what...if you need emergency care you go on a wait list that is miles long. Canadian healthcare is terrible...it only benefits people who have a cold and other mild sicknesses because just about every neighborhood has a clinic you can get free meds from.

one time i folded back some fingers from a skateboard accident...tendons were exposed in my fingers and everything...i was in terrible pain..my hand looked like a mangled mess...i waited in the damn hospital for almost 4 hours before i saw a doctor who gave me some pain pills and then i had to wait another 2 hours to finally get x-rayed before they put my fingers back into place. that would have never happend in the states.

bottom line is that the current adminstration has got to go...people are fed up...thats why the Republicans won the house. Liberal thinking hurts my head...it never makes sense. good luck in the future man...i hope your business doesn't get so screwed over you have to add to the unemployment line.
