All Or Nothing Tattoo Artist: Sean Herman Biography

So I started out as a preacher. To make a long story short, I left the church and religion in general. I had too many questions that couldn't be answered. I didn't grow up in the church; I got into on my own when I was in high school. I had preached Sunday sermons at dozens of churches, done missionary work, and put together many festivals and events. While in college I started have questions no one could answer. One morning I woke up and decided I couldn't do it anymore. At that point I had nothing, except art. Religion still plays a large part in my art, but in a different way. I think it's interesting how people react to the iconography and I like to use that in my tattoos.

I grew up in punk rock. I saw people with tattoos and always felt like that was something I wanted to be apart of. I started getting tattooed when I was 16, but stopped because of the atmosphere I was around. After I got out of that atmosphere it was all over. I started getting tattooed a few times a week. I loved being able to be apart of it. I've always had a love for tattooing. It's an amazing art that has been around longer than everything around us and will be around longer than everything around us. I'm lucky to be able to be a part of it.

I started my apprenticeship in 2003. I apprenticed under Kele Idol at Aerochild Tattoos. They were kind enough to give me a chance, and I'm forever grateful to them. I started tattooing full time about 7 months later. The owner of Aerochild, Justin Kontzen, became a very close friend of mine. He introduced me to Brandon Bond in 2005. I did my first guest spot out at his shop, All or Nothing Tattoo, in Georgia. He and his shop definitely helped shape the way I'm now tattooing. I was lucky enough to be able to watch these amazing artists at work. Now I work here with them. I'm the luckiest guy ever and can't wait for every new day and every new tattoo.
