GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR VOLUNTEERS
Please read the following guidelines and sign below
Be punctual and reliable. Contact the shelter as soon as possible if unable to work your schedule shift.
Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
Keep all client data confidential.
Be friendly, warm and courteous to the public.
In order to provide accurate information, ask the staff for assistance with any questions or problems the answer or solution to which you are unsure.
Please notify the Staff supervisor upon arrival if you wish to volunteer on a day or at a time for which you are unscheduled.
Volunteers may not enter any unauthorized areas without staff approval.
Smoking is not permitted inside the building or near the adoption sites at events or Petsmart.
Volunteers must be neat and dress in clean, serviceable clothing; no sandals and no shorts.
Make suggestions! We welcome ideas to improve our shelter. Suggestions can be made directly to the Staff Supervisor.

RELEASE AGREEMENT AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE
For the Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
This release and covenant not to sue is executed and delivered this ____ day of _______, _______ by the undersigned volunteer (“volunteer”) at Suwanee, Gwinnett County, Georgia to and in favor of the Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ga S.P.C.A.), Inc., a Georgia non-profit corporation.
WHEREAS, Ga S.P.C.A. operates a non-profit corporation and organization for the prevention of cruelty to animals and related purposes; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer has been informed and acknowledges that the environment of a humane shelter can present hazards of injury or even death, including, but not limited to: attack by shelter animals, disease present in animals, chemicals used to clean and sanitize the shelter, and equipment used to handle animals and perform office functions.
NOW THEREFORE, Volunteer, in consideration of the premises and to be allowed to perform such services for or at the facilities of the Ga S.P.C.A., as may be appropriate, promises, agrees and covenants, as follows:
Volunteer acknowledges that he or she has been appraised of and is familiar with the foregoing hazards and desires to volunteer with the Ga S.P.C.A. despite these risks of injury or death. Volunteer freely and voluntarily accepts the risk of injury or death from: (i) attack by shelter animals; (ii) diseases possibly present in the shelter animals; (iii) chemicals used in the shelter, (iv) equipment used in the shelter’s operations, and (v) any other cause related to Volunteer’s, other volunteer’s, employee’s, and patron’s activities in, on, about, or related to the shelter.
Volunteer will never institute any action or suit at law or in equity against or involving the Ga S.P.C.A., either directly or indirectly, nor institute, prosecute or in any way aid, assist or participate, directly or indirectly in the institution or prosecution of any claim, demand, action or cause of action for damages, costs, loss of services, expenses, or compensation fro or on account of any damage, loss or injury either to person or property, or both, whether developed or underdeveloped, resulting or to result, known or unknown, past, present, or future, arising out of or related to the condition or operation of the Ga S.P.C.A. and its facilities (including, but not limited to, any damage, loss or injury either to person or property, or both, resulting from contract with or the actions of conduct of any animal located at or in the custody or control of or in connection with the Ga S.P.C.A.). The Volunteer further hereby releases, demises, and discharges the Ga S.P.C.A. and covenants and agrees to defend, indemnify and hold the Ga S.P.C.A. harmless from and against any and all of the foregoing, including but not limited to actions, causes of action, claims, demands, damages, suits, costs, expenses Volunteer has, had or may have for any reason or which may occur or arise by reason of Volunteer’s association, activity or work now, heretofore or hereafter at or with the Ga S.P.C.A.
This covenant and release shall inure to and is for the benefit of the Ga S.P.C.A., related organizations, its successors and assigns, officers, agents, directors, employees (other) volunteers and representatives; shall bind Volunteer, Volunteer’s successors and assigns, spouse, heirs, executors, administrators and personal representatives.
This instrument reflects the entire covenant and release agreement and understanding of the parties, and Volunteer acknowledges and agrees that no contrary statements, promises or inducements have been made by or on behalf of the Ga S.P.C.A. and Volunteer has not relied on any statements, promises or inducements not contained herein.
Volunteer executes and delivers this release and covenant not to sue agreement and instrument in order to induce the Ga S.P.C.A. to permit volunteer to perform service and work as an unpaid volunteer at and in connection with the non profit activities of the Ga S.P.C.A. The undersigned volunteer has carefully read and understands the foregoing and has the right and wishes to execute this instruments, and so acknowledges.
