Hand Gun for a Beginner
Since alot of you are gun owners on this board, wanted to get some insight into a great handgun for a beginner. Any info or links would be appreciated.

Re: Hand Gun for a Beginner
im a huge fan of a .40cal. I bought a ruger for my first and later bought 2 sig's (which i freaking love) but i still got love for my old ruger. i actually thought it was a great beginner gun.

I have to agree with Devin. My first hand gun was the Glock 23 .40cal as well.

Re: Hand Gun for a Beginner
Ive got a 380, because I wanted to start out on a smaller gun, especially cuz I have such small hands.
Josh originally got me a 9mm but it is now His and Ive got the 380. Now i just wish that we could get to the range so I can go shoot it! haha

Re: Hand Gun for a Beginner
my first gun was a GLOCK 17 9mm, I wanted something with more stopping power so now I have the .40. But I would def. get a GLOCK.

Re: Hand Gun for a Beginner
im not sure i agree that a glock is good for a beginner with the whole "no safety" issue. personally i think someone should have a chance to become familiar with handguns in general before dealing with the added responsibility of a gun with no safety. but thats just my opinion. by all means, get what feels right.

Re: Hand Gun for a Beginner
thanks but everywhere i'm reading is saying i should start out with a .22 just to get the hang of properly "hitting a target". Is this totally wrong. I mean i want something that i can take to a shooting range and learn to be a good shot. Should i start with something small and once i get the knowledge that comes with handling a hand gun move up to one that ya'll wrote about. A .22 that seems to get alot of talk is this one: http://www.berettausa.com/product/sp...eos_detail.htm
thanks for input, more, more, more.......

oh absolutly! i like them too. i actually wanted a glock when i got my first sig and ended up getting a better deal on the sig. then after owning the sig for a while i began to prefer them. but glocks are definately due their recognition.
