heres a thought. and call me crazy as s&!t but i would like to get involved with a NATIONWIDE/WORLD WIDE movement.

there are NO tri-folds ANYWHERE or Health department Brochures ANYWHERE to be found on CROSS CONTAMINATION in Tattooing/piercing.
AND..
the Dangers of the "Kitchen Scratcher" ANYWHERE!. .. (we sooooo could make a movie!! -think Montana METH Movement meets Tattooing world haha)
I AM a tattoo Artist and Body Modification Specialist here in Richmond VA.
(graffitis ink gallery) and have been in the tattooing community for 5 years now and not once have i EVER seen such a disgusting, and more dangerous practices being done in creepy vans, motorhomes, Kitchens, basements and truckstop bathroom jobbers.. f@#kIN KILLS ME!! WE NEED TO START THIS MOVEMENT AS ARTISTS WHO CARE!

Brandon, anyone, i would like to help get a movement started on this. i personally don't think i am crazy or out on a limb with saying all of this. i believe that this kinda literature needs to be created within our culture and our tattooing community, hell, it should be attached to our care sheets as well the dangers of cross contamination as well as the dangers of f@#kin tweaker scratch artists.

WHOS WITH ME??
cause id love to see this come to fruition

Bags alone aren't 100%. Would you have sex with an aids infested hooker wearing a sandwich bag as protection? Most people I know only use bags to keep ink off the machine. Madicide is the way to go.

i think thats a stretch. unfortunately people use that "nags aren't 100 % more of the time as an excuse to NOT BAG. "no ones perfect so why try" type attitude. bagging is an EXTRA precaution, in addition to your normal machine cleaning. most people i know that bag, also madacide their machines. To me, its more like having sex with an aids infested hooker, wearing a condom, and also taking one of those needle stick cocktails afterwards.

some literature like this would be great. however, in the states i have been liscenced in, they have required cross contamination and blood borne pathogen courses, (not tattoo specific though) and offer literature from OSHA (tattoo specific) and imose regulations like how you can store your reusable equipment, how your trash can be thrown away, etc.

how many people on this forum, are liscenced under state supervision, and or current on the required cross contamination and bloodborne pathogen courses?

its like, naturally as tattooers we dont want to be told what to do, so we dont ever want the health department butting in...but we talk trash about shops that are unclean. we cant have our cake and eat it to. i think the answer is more regulation. i mean s&!t, hairdressers are more restricted on cleanliness than most unregulated states shops, but without tattooer input, they are just blinding adding in laws that make no sense.

we need someone on the health boards that tattoo. thats it. ha

i dunno, what do you guys think

This is a great thread.

Why in the world would someone be against bagging their machines?? Admittedly I don't bag them all the time, but I spray them with cavacide afterwards. I want to get in the habbit though.

It's as hard to start bagging machines as it is to start flossing. to steal a joke from Mitch Hedberg.

its hard to want to bag em on a tattoo thats one color and will take 10 minutes. they say it takes 14 days to form a habit though! give it a shot. i use sammich baggies and they work great.

There's nothing here in Florida. It sounds like they're about to start requiring a license though, but the fee will be outrageous (8 or 9 hundred?). I'm all in favor of this though. We'll make that money back if it weeds out some of the scratchers and flee market tattooers, I think.

right now i am in fl and got the letter on their proposed laws. it got shot down and we probably wont hear about it again for another year now. there is some sort of regulation on how much the fees can be...and if you can prove out of state licensing you will probably be exempt.

just to prove how cool you can be with bags...here is a pic of me in my sterile nerd'dom bagged machine, disposable tubes...

*by the way...... THIS THREAD SHOULD BE "STICKY" it would take out some of the moral obligation to this board to inform scratchers of their craziness.
