Re: new BB site layout and jeff paetzold banner
SHORT RESPONSE: The gold is badass!
LONG EXPLINATION AS TO WHAT MAKES THE GOLD SUCH A BADASS: The blue seems to read very well with the black background and ties in with the colors of the secondary material (text) in the bar. However, it does seem to conflict with the patterns represented on the site.
The gold works good with the scroll work pattern along the edges and begins to build upon a theme of something long ago. I would lighten up the grey a little bit to allow it to read better. The font choosen has very light strokes to it. So it needs some strong contrast to pull it out.
I would pull pack on the filters used on the text in the header. It is beginning to wash out the text. Please note that the text below Brandon Bond in the header is more difficult to read than the menu bar written in black. To further define the heirachy of the text in the header. You could use a font for your name that has heavier strokes in it but are of similar style.

Re: new BB site layout and jeff paetzold banner
My first impression was that the blue was the better one, since blue has been a strong element in so many famous brandon bond tattoos.
However, I have to agree with 561....the gold is really great and easier to read against a black background.
A well thought out mix of the two is probably the best way to go.

Re: new BB site layout and jeff paetzold banner
I would most definitely use both of those layouts, the buttons and everything are the same. the only change are the colors, so it kind of makes it clear that you are on a different page than something else. basically it distinguishes where you are at on the site. I dig man, I dig.
