Although Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was not able to advance in the playoffs this season, he was able to do something else of great importance.
This year marks Vick's 10th season in the NFL. In only 10 years Vick has managed to do what few QBs could ever dream of doing during their career: run for over 4,500 yards.
Only a handful of NFL QBs have ever been able to amass such a large number of yards on the ground. Among them are Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton, Steve McNair and Donovan Mcnabb.
This year, Vick surpassed the No. 2 QB rushing record previously held by San Francisco 49ers QB Steve Young. Vick ended the season with 676 rushing yards, bringing his career total to 4, 630.
As Steve Young now takes a close third spot, with 4,239 yards, Vick holds his sights on the No. 1 position, currently held by another Eagles QB, Randall Cunningham.
Cunningham is currently in first place with 4,928 yards, only 298 yards more than Vick. Vick is on track to break that record by the end of next season.
Also, it should be noted that Cunningham played 16 years in the NFL and Young played for 15.
If Vick makes it as long as these two did, he will likely obliterate the all-time record, giving him a special place in NFL history.
