Default Black Dog Syndrome

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts and opinions were on what is known to the rescue scene as "Black dog syndrome". Basically, black dogs are rarely adopted out due to their coat color. I know I see this every day in the rescue I work with, people pass right by the fuzzy little black pups because, as one 8 year old boy told me, "they're not cool looking". Has anyone else seen this problem within pit bull rescues?

I have always thought the black dogs were the cool looking ones.

That's what I always said, but their adoption rates prove this problem. That just means that rescues have to come up with some other way to make the black dogs stand out from the rest of the pack.

It seems crazy, but it is very common. Ask any rescue, they will probably say the same thing.
