Default People are BROKE!

Anybody else living in a torn economic city? Seems like I have to go overboard to do the tattoos that i like and if I don't then I don't see them for a year to finish my work!! Plus i'm a fully custom artist so when I draw their pieces on I go way overboard than what they have to spend. Oh well,at least I half way get to tattoo the way I want to but I feel like i'm losing my a55. Anyone else in this situation?

95% of my work is done custom drawing on with sharpies. I haven't bought thermofax paper for over 5 yrs. Still got almost a full 5 sheets to last me the next 5 yrs. lol

try asking people if they have a budget to try to stay within before you start drawing and use that to keep from going too overboard

I do! guess my eyes bite off more than they can chew lol! For example this chick came in with an old flash pic of a rose an tribal. I'm like "what's your budget". She says "$100". Well i tell her "usually lower back pieces like that usually go for around $150-$200". She says " well I got $100. So I say "ok, well i can hook you up with something in that range. I grapped out the sharpies and this happened a little over an hour and some change later.

After the session I tell her I'd really like to spend another setting on it and add some background and really hook it up! Always wonder if they will. Normally they just start on new stuff. grrrrrrrrrrrr

i don't think you went too too overboard. that definitely is a killer deal for 100 bucks, but its a nice tattoo, and good advertisement. think of the hookups as advertising, and its easy to let it go.
