Tattooing kneecaps/elbows

Is it possible to get ink to hold in the long-term on kneecaps, elbows, and other rather tough, lathery areas?

I've seen lots of kneecap/elbow tattoos that seem like they healed solid with very little fall out.. so I would assume it's possible.

There is no ink that holds better than others on knees and elbows, It's all what your used to using. I was told (on another thread that posted before on the same subject) To just get in and get out, It's true! Get in and get out, It works dude. Promise

it also depends on how tough the area is to begin with. i've tattooed knees on a couple of my friends that work in an office, and had no probs, then my best friends dad that works in construction, could not get s&!t to stick. but fk is right slow machines that hit soft, that area tends to bleed alot.

Just finished up a tribal sleeve tonight. Saved the elbow for last. 1 i hate doing tribal 2 i dislike tattooing elbows. depending on skin type (desk jockey-construction worker) have them lotion up a good couple times a day befor tattoo really helps. i hang my needles out a mile and am very aware how deep and how much time i am spending on the spot. Bending the arm so the skin is very tight helps as well. Again being very aware of how deep i am because being at the other end of a large grouping can suck ba!!$. It also helps to hit with green soap water etc( dont wipe off just let sit works like a magnifying glass) after you worked the area to see how light or dark you put pigment in. Well keep on truckin

When I had my kneecap tattooed before, it seemed like the machine just didn't penetrate deep enough and during the healing process 90% of the pigment completely fell out.

It healed fine.. very little scabs / mostly flakes.. the machine just didn't penetrate deep enough I think.

Tom.. did you eventually find a way to make it stick on the kneecap of that construction worker? Or would it just not go in no matter what?

yah, i made him use hand lotion for a week before that tattoo, and i took my time. the problem with people that work hard for a living is that they are always on their knees or smashing their elbows or whatever. so even if you do get it in, most likely after a year or even less, it will have a tendency to fall out. so i try to stay away from that as much as possible, but touch ups help, there just annoying.
