Re: Serious Abuse : (
UTICA —
The New York State Humane Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the abuse and starvation of two female 6-month-old pit pull puppies in Utica.
City police and animal control officers found the emaciated dogs in the area of Jay and Nichols streets in East Utica on Tuesday. One was wearing a blue, red and black collar, while the other was wearing a choke type collar, police said.
Both dogs are black in color and are currently being treated at a veterinary hospital.
Anyone with information about the case should contact the Utica Police Department at 223-3500.
The New York State Humane Association conducts animal cruelty investigation workshops across the state to instruct police and humane investigators on the state’s animal cruelty laws and their application. This past April, the Utica Police Department and the Mayor's Office co-hosted a workshop held at the Hotel Utica.
