ROFL! That dog looks like a big slush puppy.

Is there a reason you guys choose those chokers for the dogs as opposed to those chokers that don't have prongs? I could help to "soften" their image.

Pinch or "prong" collar it is actually a gentle tool for training many dogs with little or no tugging, jerking, or pulling.

"slip" collars :A harsh jerk with a slip collar can damage a dog's trachea.

For a well-trained dog with super high prey drive and a tendancy to bolt, I would recommend a prong and not a choke chain. Choke chains don't stop the pulling, they just do what their name implies - "choke".

You never correct or jerk a dog wearing a prong collar, as the dog corrects himself while wearing it.

A Study on Prong Collars was done in Germany:

* 100 dogs were in the study. 50 used choke and 50 used prong.
* The dogs were studied for their entire lives. As dogs died, autopsies were performed.
* Of the 50 which had chokes, 48 had injuries to the neck, trachea, or back. 2 of those were determined to be genetic. The other 46 were caused by trauma.
* Of the 50 which had prongs, 2 had injuries in the neck area, 1 was determined to be genetic. 1 was caused by trauma.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I brought it up because people have mentioned to me before that the prong collars make the dogs look mean or harder to control.

That's actually a good choice. It may look like a bra but it isn't suggestive to what people percieve as an aggresive dog.
