Default Other Folks' Work

I get the impression that most artists don't like finishing/continuing other artists' work. Is that the case? If so, is there a particular reason?

I ask b/c I got some work on my back a few yrs ago at AON. It was done in a way that it could be continued (at least in my opinion). The artist is no longer at AON, and I don't beleive he's close by anywhere. I've gotten 2 different pieces there and am really attached to the place, so i don't know i'd follow him elsewhere anyway...

Anyway, I'm not in any hurry to get back to work in it. Just curious....

I can see why most artists don't want to do that, but I'm guessing that if it was an AON artist, any of the current artists would be the best to finish it, seeing as how they've all probably collaborated with him before and know his style better than any other shop.

Though I don't know how some would feel since I'm sure they're still friends with him and might not want him to think they're taking his client.
