Default Laser removal? Advice/Questions?

Hey, so I have a spot the size of a dime that healed dark as s&!t, and I honestly have never been happy with it. I'm thinking about getting it lasered at a dermatologist. They are giving me the "it will take several sittings" dose, but I have been watching this on the internet and I think one blast would lighten it up. You think I should go for a sitting and be clear with the doc to blast it good?

i had a 6x6 tattoo on my leg that i had removed in 2003...3 sessions later and a sh*t load of pain, it only removed 95% and left my skin kinda glossy...i want to get my leg done..just would hate if the tattoo wound up looking retarted in the spot where it was lasered......they did it for free, and told me that black and green where the hardest colors to remove...but maybe equipment has got better over the years....

Make sure its a Q-switch laser. It's the newest and leaves little to no scarring. Black should be the easiest color, it's the lighter ones like yellow and white that are the hardest to remove because of the transparency issues associated with them. Professionally done tattoos are harder to remove than jailhouse style ones because of the different pigments used and amount of saturation from the experienced tattooer.
Yeah, it hurts about 3 times worse than the tattooing procedures, but wearing an undesirable tattoo with you the remainder of your life is much more painful.

And... there are plastic pigments which may remain in the skin even after lasering. I've seen some greens that were impossible to remove with lasering. I'm sure there are others. There are other methods available. I've used one alternate method to good effect on some tattoos.
Some laser work will scar. Some technicians are less than careful. Laser tattoo removal is more painful than the tattoo. One more reason to get the best artist doing the best work that you can find.
