Default Tattooing for two weeks, my first work

I have been lurking this forum for maybe a month and finally decided to post... I have been tattooing now for about two weeks and these two are my first. All criticism is appreciated.

"seeking a mentor" and "tattooing two weeks" are words you dont want to use together. most people have been mentored, or have been apprenticing for quite some time before they, for example, try out tattooing, with larger scale pieces on what appears to be a pretty girl. dude, someone is going to have to fix that.

most shops dont have an interest in someone that "already tattoos" but "didn't apprentice".

my suggestion is to work on more flash, pretend you didnt do these tattoos, and try your hardest to get into a shop. from there the progression will increase...but learning on your own, how can you learn something you dont know? you have to learn from someone that knows what to do.

good luck!

Everybody? No. Its just that when frequenting a forum such as this, each person you encounter is interested/involved in tattoo to some degree... I kind of expected a message like this from someone who tattoo's well. Also, "Not to be a d**k or anything"

Ok, honest feedback then. Go find a mentor. Don't tattoo until you've found him/her. Forget all that you think you know about Machine and Ink until then.

Damn people, why so angry??

They are right though, you need to get into an apprenticeship. There's so much you need to learn. It looks easy, but you REALLY need to learn proper techniques in cleaning & sterilization, stretching, applying ink, how deep to go, etc.

You're off to a good start and will probably be a pretty good artist one day, but you have a long ways to go. You really shouldn't be doing such big pieces yet that aren't going to be easy to cover.

how have you been "lurking this message board for about a month" and didnt know you were committing a cardinal tattoo sin by tattooing people A:not in a proper tattoo shob, and B: having no apprentice training what-so-ever?

i don't get it, if you lurked these forums, then why (first of all) did you post in general discussions. and secondly, why did'nt you post in SHOWCASE YOUR WORK. anyway. you need to focus on the clean side of tattooing way before you start actually tattooing. and i don't want to hear the whole i am certified in blah blah blah bulls&!t. putting ink in the skin is the least important part of tattooing in my opinion, you could the gnarliest tattoo ever, and if the person dies from a disease then what good was it really. STOP tattooing, DRAW a s&!t load of everything, and FIND a mentor who is in a shop, not another scratcher.
if you think we are being assholes then you don't belong in this industry. take the advice, i'm telling you it will be better that way. i started off the same way, and it took me several years to unlearn the bad habbits i picked up.
