Hello to all, My name is Rowdy and this is the first time for me to post on this forum!! Soooo...Here's the deal. I have been tattooing for about 6 years now and have always favored coil irons!! I recently decided to step out of the box when I couldn't pass of the steal of deal on a Swashdrive Gen 6. I absolutly love the advantages of low hand stress, and the fact that for lining it is fast, accurate and hits like a mack truck!!

The problem is shading and coloring with it (or me should I say)!! Just haven't found that sweet spot. The fact that it DOES NOT GIVE, has me trying to make adjustments and I could use a little insight from those who may use this machine. Typically when shading or packing color I run my two primary machines at...Shaders- 90-100+cps-duty 40-45%, Color packer-85+cps-duty 44-45%. Any suggestions for a starting point that I can tweak with on the "Swashdrive Gen 6"??

Sure about ur opinion so I got some questions for you:

Why don't numbers mater I know what the duty cycle is and
And the hitting the skin and all that sht but again why don't they
Matter?

Question 2 : Why the F doesnt voltage matter....no sht when I turned my
Voltage from 7-9 to 5/6 it really did change the healing of my solid color
Work so what's up with that what happen?

Voltage matters greatly yet isnt a number that can really be compared too much since every machine and artists preferences are different. Less voltage def means less abrassive/aggressive. When I run my fav 11 mag shader i run about 7.8-8 to whip in some solid black quickly then turn down to 7-7.2 for washing. Another shader I have runs much lower. There are so many little things that can change a machine. Each is def unique.

i just tune my machines to work at low voltage, but i'd agree that voltage doesnt really mean anything, as long as your machine runs good and clean it doesnt matter what voltage its at.

50% duty cycle is too high for color packing imo, i run liners around 47-48 , and color packers around 44-45, black and grey depends...but basicly 42-43. these dont work for everyone, this is what works for me.

it all really depends on your hand movements and how you do things, like for color packing/solid black i DONT use the small circles, its good for blending or b&g but just not quite good for solid work.

i use either a 9m or 15m and do the back and forth motions, but when you do that there is a curtain sound your supposed to hear to know its working, pretty much a rant rant rant rant about a half a second apart. IF YOU DONT KNOW THE SOUND AND FEEL DO NOT ATTEMPT.

pretty much man, lower your duty cycle down some and you'll notice a huge difference.

You can start this at any level and you should consult to any expert about this.
