So, Im doing a paper on tattoo culture...
Hey guys!
I am in college and doing a paper for a culture class. I decided to do a paper on the fun and colorful world of ink and body modification.
I would like to get your opinions on some things.
How do people react to your ink/bodymods?
Good Reactions / Bad Reactions?
Stories?
I think this will be fun, because most of the people in this class seem to be pretty conservative, and I am already catching crap from classmates!
haha! I love it...
But I want to prove my point that the tattood, are not evil, or satanist... hell most of us have homes and families....
The only difference btwn us and "normal" (uninked folks) is that the art we collect just happens to be on our skin (which makes it much radder!)
So give me your two cents worth... please!
thanks in advance

people like em until i start punching puppies and then they blame the tattoos for my puppy punching ways!
so yesterday i was sitting in traffic behind what look to be a 1991 ford escort and i swear the plume of smoke coming out it's exhaust was blackening my window. Now my question is, how is my hummer worse for the environment than that thing?

Re: So, Im doing a paper on tattoo culture...
Well first off I consider myself to be pretty conservative in a lot of ways but I am tattooed. I was the first in a large family (I think there are around 50 cousins at this point) to get inked, and after 10 years I have 3 uncles, 5 cousins and a father-in-law with ink. Hell my mom is even considering one!
Over all most people I meet respond positively. They ask where it was done, if it hurt that type of thing, rarely do I get the "What are you going to do when you get old and it's all saggy?" I typically respond with "I will be happy just to be above ground at that point."
Over all I feel that "our" art form is much more accepted and appreciated in today's culture than even 15 years ago.

I agree with you 100%, it is much more accepted. But there are still those crazy conservatives.... I always get the, what are you going to do when your old question all the time.
I cant wait til we get old, our generation, is going to produce the most awesome senior citizens ever!

A Quote, from the original Herbert Hoffman, Alteiste TatowierstuBe Deutschlands, Hamburg, Germany...
"The only difference between tattooed people and people without tattoos, is that the tattooed person doesnt care whether your tattooed or not"

Re: So, Im doing a paper on tattoo culture...
I am a collector of tattoos, born freak for life, management of a fortune 500, over 100+ hours of work, nothing but positive comments, people ask me all the time where the work came from, how come it look so good (its All or Nothing!)
I have had less than a handful of BAD stares, no comments from them (I am 6 foot 1, 275 and ugly as a gorilla)
I think ink is much more accepted, even though the uninked are not running out to get a tattooed, fine with me, but I never cared if they liked it or not

Re: So, Im doing a paper on tattoo culture...
I get hit on alot because of the tattoos, and by fairly attractive women. I'm happy in the relationship I'm in, but I'm always shocked that these women come up to me and flirt with me, and I started asking and its usually the tattoos that caused them to come over. Cause otherwise I'm just a 260lb 5'11 fat kid with a bad haircut and a s&!tty beard. I do get alot of guys who give me static for them, rarely the "What are you gonna do when you get old" but more of the "You think your better than me cause you got tattoos" but i think its more a jealousy thing. They can't handle the fact that I'm open minded and laid back enough to not care what their ancient social stigmas say, so I get to do what I want with my body.

"The only difference is that people with tattoos don't care that non-tattooed people don't have any tattoos."
Did I quote that right?
