Default Just Cause YOu Tattoo Doesn't Mean You Have To Look Like It..., Does It?

I have been doing tats for a year or so and have met a few people(very few) seeing as I dont really do many in a shop and am still apprenticing. However some (including myself) don't have many tats. I dont even have them on my arms or anywhere visible unless I show them(duh) and I have my ears and lip pierced so I look more like a rockstar than a tattooist. But some ppl see me and dont think I can/do it because Im not covered in them. And I have read on here that some people wouldnt really go to them for advice just because they dont have a "body suit" so to speak. Also I know many people that don't have a CLUE about what a tattoo artist's portfolio is so they wouldnt ask about it. So I just don't get if your supposed to be covered in tattoos in order to show you do them because I dont really want to cover myself in my artwork or anyone elses... Dont get me wrong though there are a few people that I would love to get tattooed by, bt I'd do it where you cant see it.. Not cuz I dont want to show them off but if not bcuz I dont like how it looks personally...

if you dont like how it looks you shouldnt do them!

a tattooer with no visable tattoos is like a dentist with no visable teeth.

interesting way of looking at it... and I said on me where its visible I dont like.. I wouldnt want to go in for a job interview in something else and then not be able to get hired cuz i have so many tats. and I hate it when ppl stare at me which tattoos bring in lots of attention.. like i said i am still an apprentice so I have to get other jobs in order to pay for it all.

I heard long sleeve shirts are great for hiding arm tattoos. As long as they are not fish net. And make sure your future employer doesn't perform random strip searches. I really hate when mine do that. haha

From the otherside... I do not tattoo, but i would not go and get tattooed by someone who didnt have any tattoos I could see.

On the other end, I also wouldnt get tattooed by someone who has crappy scratcher tattoos Everywhere!!!

Although long sleeve shirts hide it... Its FL! Its f@#king HOT!!!!!!!!!!! And I understand that maybe you do have to have one or two that do show but do they have to be whole arm sleeves?
I mean I want to get a custom reaper my dad did with this japanese saying on my arm but I dont want it covering my whole arm

If you dont love tattoos enough to have them everywhere then you should not be a tattoo"er"

I tattooed as a professional in a shop for two years before I got tattoos on my forearms. It was a very long two years and once it was done and I was sure thats what I wanted to do for a career I went out and got both forearms done by some badasses and have been happy with my life ever since.

Stop being gay. get some tattoos or go fold some shirts at Abercrombie.

Thanx For The Input
Either Way I'd Wait Till I'm A Tattoo Pro At A Shop Full Time Cuz Like I Said As An Apprentice I Obviously Have To Have Another Job To Pay For Everything.. Deff. Going To Be Getting My Forearms Tatted Though. And At My Job Right Now The "Uniform" Is Short Sleeve Polos So ObviouslyThey'd See It.
Thanx For The Input On This Though And Now I Know

i had a job paying 36k a year and i had both of my forearms fully done before i quit to tattoo full time, and that was a desk job where i had to be presentable.

it's what you make of it, this isn't a weekend warrior industry. this is a give all you have, including your skin industry. I would never let anyone touch a needle to my skin on any part of my body that they don't already have covered.

and like bb said, why would you get into a job doing tattoos if you don't like how they look!!!

you're starting to make me wonder sir, you made the obvious statement that you've been doing tattoos outside of your apprenticeship!!! Rule #1 broken right there, does your mentor know this?
