Re: Rules for the Non-Military
I gave a pair of mine to my brother when I got out. He's in AIT in Maryland right now.
THEY DON'T HAVE TO SHINE BOOTS OR PRESS UNIFORMS ANYMORE!!! That s&!t pissed me off. All the hours I wasted shining boots, and he's just taking a little brush and dusting them off. >

Re: Rules for the Non-Military
If it makes you feel better, they are already changing the Army's uniform again. However I think theyre still sticking with the desert boots.
What happened to the days of the military taking pride in their uniforms... and having to pretty much break through the layer of starch just to get your BDUs on?
The only upside I guess is that I no longer have Kiwi stains all over my house. lol

My mind has gone blank this morning, but there was another one that I used to get that final gloss. I can't remember it now, but it was the blue that gave the black that extra shine. Then, of course, there was the Kangaroo Wax from Korea that worked wonders for a last minute shine before formation.

I love the feeling of freshly starched BDUs. There was something gratifying about wearing something you'd spent so much time and effort pressing.

Re: Rules for the Non-Military
Every single time my brother pointed something out that I questioned, the answer he'd been given was, "This is the new Army."
Speaking of which, he's been granted leave for Labor Day weekend, and will be flying down! He said he's ready to get some of his ink covered while he's here. Guess where I'm getting him an appointment at for that weekend.

Re: Rules for the Non-Military
I hated hearing "This is the new Army." It almost felt insulting.
