neuma machines ???????
 

Hey everyone I have a few questions regarding the neuma machines (the air powered machines ) I’ve read quite a few articles ; less trauma to the skin , less pain for the client , longer sittings and the like. Has anyone on the board had personal experience with theses and if so would you say they are worth the price or not ? Are they much different then the coiled machines ? And last but not least are they worth the cost ?

I’m a little hesitant as I’m quite the traditionalist when it comes to tattoo machines I like them heavy and loud but I have to say I’m quite intrigued

I never used them but I can tell you this...remember when ya buy one you need a compressor thats not loud as hell like most, an air dryer, and any air tool I've ever seen or used needs to be oiled daily or they wear out FAST... I for one don't want to be tattooed by something thats spraying left over air tool oil or water all over my fresh tattoo..............

Of course I'm biased to the electric tattoo machine ;)

yeah im way into the electrical tattooing i just was interested if someone had used them and what the result was .....i think the compressor is an oil less clean air compressor but they do talk about the air hitting the skin when the machine is not in motion

When I said oil I wasn't referring to the compressor but to the tool itself......it has internal moving parts right? I'm not sure but guessing its either rotary or piston, if either of those is run consistent without some sort of lubrication they will wear out way faster. I've yet to see any type of air tool that doesn't recommend adding a few drops of oil daily.

Like I said I never used one but my first question before spending that kind of cash on the whole set-up would be whats the guaranteed machines life and whats the expected or average machine life.

i work in a auto shop, and yes ALL air tools need to be oiled everyday and then hook the air up to it and run it a few seconds.

yeah it just seems to be a touchy subject for some tattooers
im from the west coast Oakland area so if your not into the traditional your just not in if ya all know what i mean

yeah I tried to tattoo with them a lot and I liked em but it slowed everything down for sure... everything is different and softer... and the tattoo I got with those machines looks soft and weak. they tattooed that portrait of my dog and its all light and crazy muted - not saturated at all - they have to go over their tattoos multiple times sometimes and they explained the layering process- we only go over it once.


it was fun though and I would use them for specific effects - its loud though!!!!
