A sword for your viewing pleasure.
 
With all the gun enthusiasts around here, I thought maybe you all would like to see what a *real* katana should look like.

Forget the kill bill crap you saw in that movie, those swords were actually made in china (I know the forge they came from).

This was hand made in the US by a traditionally trained craftsman in the Japanese style. The project took 3 years to complete.

Also, since AON does a fair amount of Japanese style ink...this would be handy in case any of the artists need to see a Katana for reference.

The style of this blade was popular in the Satsuma region of southern Japan (where my family is from, I'm 1/2 Japanese) during the brutal mongol invasions.

Thanks...I did my best...the lighting SUCKS but my lighting rig is all packed away in my workshop and I was just too lazy to drag it out and get it set up.

The blade looks like fire trapped in steel.

hey para my son is a sword nerd who is apprenticing in the japanese way of swordmaking....he said this sword is nice very nice....he even said it is of masturbatory quality....he said if it took 3 yrs it must have been done at a leisurely pace.....i'm thinking this was a compliment!?!!!my son said he held a 700 yr old japanese blade and was very exciting for him.......nerd? yes......
